This species is very rare. It inhabits inland wetlands, tropical moist evergreen, and deciduous forests in the Western Ghats of India (mostly in Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary in Goa, Sakleshpur in Karnataka, and Amboli in Maharashtra), at 400 to 800m asl.
