Raorchestes tinniens - Nilgiri Bush Frog



This species is very rare. It inhabits montane grasslands and tropical evergreen forests of the southern Western Ghats of India (mainly Ooty and the Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu), at heights ranging 1,700m - 2,000m asl.

Conservation Status:

 

 

 

 


According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining, and its current population size is unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is less than 5,000 sq km with a severely fragmented distribution. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to agriculture and urbanization.
