This extremely rare species of the Western Ghats is only found in Andiparai Shola of Valparai in Tamil Nadu at an altitude of 600m asl. It mostly inhabits in a restricted forest patch, on leaf litters and stems of undergrowth.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population size and trend is currently not known. Its Extent of Occurrence is expected to be less than 100 sq km, with all individuals in a single location. The main threat to its survival in wild is habitat fragmentation due to large-scale tea and cardamom cultivation.
