Raorchestes munnarensis - Munnar Bush Frog



This extremely rare species is endemic to localities of Munnar (Kerala), in the south Western Ghats of India at the heights of 1,500m above sea level. It inhabits areas with secondary vegetation.

This species is listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of the species is declining, and its current population size is unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is less than 100 sq km. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat degradation for non-timber plantation and urbanization.
