This Indian nocturnal and arboreal species is rare. It inhabits plantations and tropical forests of the Western Ghats (mainly the Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu, Agasthyamala hills in Kerala, and some parts of Maharashtra) at the heights of 400m - 2,000m asl.
