Raorchestes charius - Seshachar’s Bush Frog



This arboreal species is very rare. It inhabits tropical evergreen forests as well as secondary forests of the southern Western Ghats of India (mainly in localities of Chikmagalur, Karnataka), at elevations of 800m -1,200m asl.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining, and its current population size is unknown. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to large scale agriculture.
