This species is uncommon. It inhabits the inland wetlands and forests of Yunnan Province in China at elevations ranging between 1,000m - 2,080m asl. It is sparsely populated in northern regions of Myanmar (at 910m asl) and currently, its presence is uncertain in India.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining and currently, its population size is unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is less than 20,000 sq km. Major threats to its survival in Myanmar come from human encroachments like hunting and logging. In China, threats to its persistence come from habitat fragmentation due to large-scale agriculture and wood harvesting.
