Duttaphrynus parietalis - Ridged Toad


This species is uncommon. It inhabits semi-evergreen and moist evergreen tropical forests in Western Ghats of India, at the heights of 400m - 900m asl.

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the opulation of this species is declining, and its current population size is unknown. Its Extent of Occurrence is not greater than 20,000 sq km. The primary threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to deforestation for agricultural and commercial development.
