This Ponmudi hills based species is rare. It inhabits the grasslands and shrublands in the southern Western Ghats of India), at the heights of 1,030m asl.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is stable, and its current population size is unknown. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to agriculture.
